The Disney Difference

Community

Our values transcend Resort boundaries. By stimulating the local economy, driving charity actions and caring for the environment, we are committed to having a positive impact on the community.

Since opening in 1992, Disneyland® Paris has boosted the local economy, improved transport infrastructures, and generates more than 55,000 direct, indirect and induced jobs. With nearly 15,000 Cast Members, we are the #1 private employer in Seine-et-Marne and the #1 mono-site employer in France and tax contributor in Seine-et-Marne.

As the #1 tourist destination in Europe, Disneyland® Paris is an engine of economic growth and development in the region. More than €7 billion (private and public) have been invested in projects for urban - with Val d'Europe - and tourist development during the 1989-2010 period (€10 of private investments for €1 of public investments).

The adjacent Val d'Europe urban development, in particular, continues to grow and attract both residents and businesses. In less than a decade, this completely new town has blossomed into an important economic hub east of Paris, with 28,000 residents and 25,000 diversified jobs created.

Inspired by the dreams of Walt Disney, The Walt Disney Company has led an active community outreach policy supporting children and their families. Heir to this distinguished legacy, Disneyland® Paris has focused for the past 15 years on projects have been undertaken to promote solidarity, environmental care, and stimulation of children's interest in arts and reading. We have also supported pediatric services of hospitals by organizing visits throughout Europe where the Disney characters bring a touch of joy to children lives. All these actions involve the implication of our 593 Disney VoluntEARS, who donate time, talent and skills for these special causes.

Our wish-granting program is just one example of how we touch children's lives. In collaboration with 75 wish-granting organizations, children with life-threatening illnesses and their families are invited to stay at a Disney hotel and are given VIP access to the Theme Parks and attractions. Since 1992, over 12,000 wishes to visit Disneyland® Paris were granted to children all over Europe.
